Tom Dunn came to UT in 1971 from Florida State University where he received his Ph.D. in Educational Psychology and Research. Dr. Dunn was instrumental in the development of the College of Education’s internationally known competency-based teacher education (CBTE) program. He teaches behaviorally oriented courses such as Behavior Management, as well as courses in Instructional Psychology, and Theories of Learning. His research interests include:
- Expertise in various professions,
- How to influence the development of higher levels of competence in various professions,
- Identifying the knowledge that experienced professionals use, and
- Cognitive influences in self-management.
His work has appeared in journals of educational psychology, law, medical care, teacher education, and educational technology.
