Research area:

Dr. Glassman serves as an Associate Professor at the University of Toledo teaching Drug Awareness, Human Sexuality, Social Marketing and Health Behavior courses.  He is a Master Certified Health Education Specialist with a PhD in Health Education and Behavior from the University of Florida (UF). Dr. Glassman also holds one master’s degree in Public Health from The Ohio State University and another in Science and Education from the University of Toledo. He has community health expertise by virtue of working at the American Red Cross where he served as an instructor trainer and coordinated an array of health and safety courses for over five years.  His research interests involve the prevention of high-risk alcohol consumption on game day and 21st birthdays, among college students; as well as, the design, implementation, and evaluation of social marketing messages. Prior to his new position, Dr. Glassman served as the Coordinator of Alcohol & Other Drug Prevention at the University of Florida and was successful in reducing the high-risk drinking rate UF by 19% over a four year period, through a combination of social marketing and environmental management strategies.
