Effects of Cortical and Spinal Level Pathway Alterations in Persons with and without Chronic Ankle Instability. IRB# 107043
The primary aims of this study are to determine if spinal reflex and cortical measurements of the quadriceps and fibularis longus musculature differ in people with unilateral chronic ankle instability (CAI) compared to those without CAI; to verify that individuals with CAI exhibit lateral ankle ligament laxity, a reduced level of self-reported function and a pattern of reduced stability during a jump landing task; and to quantify neuromuscular control changes in the ankle, knee, and hip of persons with CAI during a jump landing task.

Relationship between cortrical-spinal excitability of the gluteal musculature and landing kinematics in healthy individuals. IRB: 107344
The purpose of this study is to determine if there is a relationship between cortical measures of the gluteus maximus and gluteus medius and knee and hip joint angles in a healthy population.

Effect of Biofeedback Training on Neuromuscular Quadriceps Function. IRB# 107079
We will investigate the effects of a biofeedback intervention combined with resistance exercise compared to an intervention of resistance exercise only in people with and without ACL reconstructions. The primary outcomes we are interested in include: spinal reflexive excitability, cortical excitability, quadriceps activation, and quadriceps strength.

Intrarater Reliability of Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation in Lower Extremity Musculature. IRB #107339
The purpose is to study the reliability of TMS in the quadriceps and fibularis longus muscles in healthy individuals. Subjects are tested at the same time of day on three occasions with two weeks between each session. Active motor thresholds and stimulus response curves will be compared within subjects.
