Graduate Programs

Hello and welcome to the Graduate Programs in Bioengineering at The University of Toledo! We are very proud of our programs, and we hope that this web site will provide you with all of the information that you need to make a decision about joining us at UT.

The overall goal of our graduate program is to offer excellence in education through state-of-the-art research and its dissemination to the scientific community. The Department offers Masters and Doctoral degrees in Bioengineering. We have very active research programs, and students can choose to work on a variety of research topics. The Masters degree provides students with specialized training needed to work in the bioindustry or as preparation to continue their research at the doctoral level. The Doctoral degree provides students with the opportunity to work in-depth on a research problem that may be sponsored by Federal and State funding agencies, industry, or private foundations and prepare for research in academic, industrial, or clinical settings.

Our faculty works closely with clinicians, other engineers, and scientists, so many of our projects reside at the interface between disciplines (i.e. engineering and medicine or engineering and material science). These projects offer great opportunities for creative problem solving, entrepreneurship, and intellectual property generation.

In addition to an outstanding faculty, we have state-of-the-art equipment in all of our laboratories. Areas of research ongoing in our department include tissue engineering, electrophysiology, medical imaging, biosensing, biomechanics, biofuels, and biomaterials.

For more information about our graduate programs, please browse our web pages. Feel free to contact me if you have questions about our programs.
