Mechanical, Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering

Transfer Students

All transfer students, whether transferring from another college within UT or from a different university, must meet the following criteria in order to transfer into Mechanical Engineering:
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher for all postsecondary coursework
  • Grade of C or better in CHEM 1230 General Chemistry I
  • Grade of C or better in MATH 1850 Calculus I

Please refer to Transfer Student Admissions for more details on admission requirements for students that wish to transfer from another college or university.

The State of Ohio has policies that direct the credit transfer process.

Most transfer students begin the transfer process by investigating whether or not their credits will transfer from one institution to another. Thanks to  transferology.com, you can do this on your own. However, if you need help, or have more detailed questions, please email Dr. Matthew Franchetti at matthew.franchetti@utoledo.edu and I will help to make your transfer as smooth as possible.

To use the credit transfer system, simply visit Transferology and create an account. You can find more detailed instructions on UT's credit transfer page

If the institution which you attend is not on Transferology, please email me at matthew.franchetti@utoledo.edu and I will assist you in getting your transfer credit evaluated.

Note: when transfer credit is awarded, you will only receive the same number of credit hours awarded by the institution where the course was originally taken. If you receive less transfer credit for a course than its equivalent at the University of Toledo, you may be required to complete additional coursework to compensate for the credit hour shortfall.

In addition, many transfer students obtain college credit for an orientation course in the program from which they are transferring. However, the MIME 1000 Orientation and Introduction to Mechanical Engineering course contains substantial content related to engineering design. Therefore we can only count orientation courses from other engineering science programs as satisfying the requirements for MIME 1000. Students who transfer from Engineering Technology or non-engineering programs must take MIME 1000.

Please see the Program Flowchart for a list of required courses in our program.
