How to Join Panhel

The Panhellenic Conference does recruitment through the Primary Recruitment process during the fall semester. During this Primary Recruitment process, all National Panhellenic Conference chapters participate, and the one Associate Member chapter holds their informal process. The Primary Recruitment process is a mutual selection process sometimes referred to as rush. In the spring semester, there are generally a few chapters who participate in an informal recruitment process.

The Office of Student Involvement and Leadership sets a minimum requirement for all new members to have a 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale and to be enrolled as a full-time student. An individual organization may set higher GPA requirements for potential new members. Organizations may also look for leadership experience and engagement in community service. For more information on individual chapters, please see chapter profiles or contact a member of the organization.

The fall semester is when Primary Recruitment occurs for Panhel. Before the recruitment week, interested women should attend Meet the Greeks, Greek Life's Late Night Breakfast, and any council events. These are the first opportunities to get to know more about the community, individual chapters, and for the chapters to get to know you. Prior to the Primary Recruitment, an individual wishing to go through the recruitment week must register and pay a fee. The first day of the Primary Recruitment is "Meet Your Rho Gamma" which is where interested individuals will meet the women who will guide them through the process. The rest of the week is structured rounds: Sisterhood Round, Philanthropy Round, and Final Party. Sisterhood Round allows all individuals going through the process to meet all chapters and learn about the chapters sisterhood. During the next two rounds, individuals will see a few chapters through a mutual selection process. Philanthropy Round is about learning more about the chapter's philanthropy and values. Final Party allows individuals to gain a deeper understanding of the chapter's values.  The Primary Recruitment ends with Bid Day, which is where individuals are welcomed into their new chapters.

During the spring semester, some chapters participate in an informal recruitment process known as COB or Continuous Open Bidding. The chapters that participate in the informal process vary each semester and is unknown until the spring semester. Chapters who participate in the informal recruitment process will invite interested women to small events. These events will be an opportunity for chapter members and interested women to get to know each other. The timeline for this process is set by the individual chapters but generally begins in late January or early February.
