McNair Scholars Awards

Graduate Application Fee Incentive

The College of Graduate Studies will waive the graduate application fee for McNair Scholars that seek admission to a masters or doctoral program* at The University of Toledo. Applicants are required to provide evidence prior to initiating the application process. The required documentation is a signed letter from the Director of the applicant’s McNair program that verifies the applicant’s participation and completion of the McNair program. Please contact deborah.andrews@utoledo.edu or 419-530-5251 for further instructions regarding the Graduate Application Fee Incentive.

  1. The fee waiver applies to the $45.00 UT Application fee or the UT Supplemental Application fee. It does not apply to application fees required by central application systems utilized by specific programs.
  2. Once you submit your UT Application or UT Supplemental Application, immediately send an email with scanned copy of your signed letter from the Director of the applicant’s McNair program that verifies your applicant’s participation and completion of the McNair program to Assistant Dean Deborah  Andrews at College of Graduate Studies. deborah.andrews@utoledo.edu
  3. Assistant Dean Andrews will process the fee waiver for the UT application fee or UT Supplemental Application fee.
  4. The McNair Graduate Application Fee Incentive opportunity does not have a deadline.
  5. The McNair Graduate Application Fee Incentive opportunity is not the same as the McNair Graduate Scholar Award.

McNair Graduate Scholar Award 

The McNair Graduate Fellowship is a part of the College of Graduate Studies Diversity and Inclusion Initiative that provides funding for Masters and Doctoral students at the University of Toledo. This fellowship is available to students who completed a Ronald E. McNair Scholars Program.

Eligibility

Applicants must meet the following requirements to be eligible to obtain the McNair Graduate Fellowship:

  • Verification of completion of a Ronald E. McNair Baccalaureate Achievement Program (McNair Scholars Program).
  • Admission to a Master’s or Doctoral program with first time enrollment for the Summer or Fall Semester of 2018 (JD, PharmD, and MD, Executive MBA and MSBS-Medical Sciences programs are excluded). You do not have to be admitted to your program of interest at the time of application.  
  • Enrolled as a full-time graduate student (as defined by the academic program and the College of Graduate Studies).

Awards

The McNair Graduate Fellowship provides full-time tuition (as defined by the academic program and the College of Graduate Studies ) for up to 4 semesters for a master’s degree or up to 8 semesters for a doctoral degree, and a stipend commensurate with that offered in the program of study.  Tuition refers to instructional fees only (in-state and out-of-state tuition) and cannot be applied to undergraduate, audited or repeated courses.  McNair Fellows are expected to fulfill a 20-hour a week assistantship while maintaining a 3.0 GPA.
