Call for Abstracts for the

Thirtieth Annual Sigma Xi Student Research Symposium
and
Third Annual Scholars' Celebration Student Research Symposium
 

Sponsored by: The UT Chapter of Sigma Xi (The Scientific Research Society), Office of Undergraduate Research, and the UT Graduate Student Association. The Symposia will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2009 in the Student Union, University of Toledo, from 9:00 am until 4:00 pm. Both oral and poster presentations are encouraged in all areas of research and scholarly activity conducted by graduate and undergraduate students attending the University of Toledo. Abstracts accepted for the Symposia will be published in the UT Scientia, the Journal of Student Research at The University of Toledo.

Oral presentations will be 15 minutes in duration and arranged into sessions focused on a similarity of topics. The format will be that of a panel discussion with three presentations per hour followed by 15 minutes for questions and discussions with all three presenters. A moderator will chair each session and lead the question and discussion period. Poster presentations will be one hour in length during which time students will remain with their posters for discussions with interested attendees. All presentations, oral and poster, will be judged and critiqued using a standard guideline, with feedback being provided to the students following their session. Cash prizes will be given for the best presentations in each category.

Abstract Submission: Send an Abstract of your presentation (via an email attachment) using the guidelines posted at the above website to: daryl.dwyer@utoledo.edu . The subject line of the email should include Sigma Xi and your last name AND the attachment should be a word file entitled “SigmaXi-lastname-G.doc” for graduate students and “SigmaXi-lastname-UG.doc” for undergraduates.
