Every semester CHSHS students pay a student technology fee and that money goes right back to our CHSHS students. This return happens in the form of new technology and maintenance of existing technology. All departments within the College of Health Science & Human Service benefit from the technology fees. A brief overview of this is as follows:
There is a student checkout station located in the HH building in Room 2100. We currently have 100 wireless Dell Latitude laptops with accessories. The technology fee pays for the purchase and upkeep of digital cameras and camcorders for students to checkout. A color printer, scanner and poster printer are available in HH2100 for student use. In addition, multimedia carts are provided for laboratories so that students have access to the same level of technological instruction as students in general classrooms. The technology fee purchases annually a number of computers and various instructional and specialized software packages that are used in departments for individual major classes.
The technology fee replaces the numerous computers in the CHSHS student labs, Room 1244 and Room 2300, every two years. HH1244 was mediated this past Spring allowing for instruction, training and testing opportunities. The technology fee covers the student personnel to staff these labs as well as office support. Another large expense is the cost of paper and toner provided in the college's open and departmental labs used only by CHSHS students.
These are examples of just some of technology that has been purchased for use by students. Students will be seeing more and more technology in terms of up-dated computer laboratories, technology in your classes, and specialized technology in laboratories.
