Toledo Law Hosts Revived Ohio Legal Scholarship Workshop

July 24, 2017

This June, Toledo Law hosted the Ohio Legal Scholarship Workshop, a regional scholarship conference that previously had been on a several-year hiatus.  The workshop is designed to provide a supportive environment for both junior and established legal scholars in the region to receive feedback on a paper or work-in-progress.

Toledo Law hosted the event on June 16, 2017.  Thirteen legal scholars presented their work, representing five law schools in the region, including The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law, Capital University Law School, Northern Kentucky University Salmon P. Chase College of Law, and Case Western Reserve University School of Law.  A scholar from Atlanta’s John Marshall Law School also attended.

Eight faculty members from Toledo Law presented at the workshop, including Lee Strang, Evan Zoldan, Shelley Cavalieri, Nicole Porter, Agnieszka McPeak, Bryan Lammon, Eric Chaffee, and Kara Bruce.  Several other Toledo Law faculty members attended the workshop and provided feedback to professors on their papers.

“The workshop provided a robust exchange of ideas and a great opportunity to get to know other law faculty in the region,” said Kara Bruce, associate dean for faculty research and development and organizer of the workshop.  “I am thrilled that Toledo Law hosted the revival of this event, and I am looking forward to attending future workshops at other area law schools.”

As a follow up to the Toledo workshop, the West Virginia University College of Law will host a workshop in January 2018 aimed at helping presenters refine their draft articles.  Several Toledo Law professors are planning to attend.
