Historical Sketch

Chi Delta Pi was founded at the University of Toledo in February 2001.  It was a local social sorority created to promote unique, productive, and independent women.  Its mission statement notes that the sorority was founded “to created and remain as a group of diverse women, who will work together as a whole to develop themselves into considerate, productive, and strong members of today’s society through sisterhood.”  Chi Delta Pi’s motto was, “The sky is the limit when your heart is in it,” and their symbol was a butterfly.  As a sorority, members participated in the UT Homecoming, Relay for Life, Dance Marathon, and Songfest, while also working with charities such as the American Cancer Society, Hannah’s Socks, and the Cherry Street Mission. 

Chi Delta Pi disbanded locally in 2012, when the sorority went national.

Scope and Content Note

This collection documents the administration of the Chi Delta Pi sorority as well as its achievements and awards.  Member information, both general and personal, is included, such as a new member guide and a signature book.  The collection also includes two scrapbooks made by officers of the sorority documenting highlights of the group’s history.
