Historical/Biographical Sketch

Edward Douglas Branch was an English professor at the University of Toledo. He is the author of such works as The Sentimental Years and The Hunting of the Buffalo.
He lived from 1905 to 1954.

Scope and Content Note

Collection consists mainly of the research notes of E. Douglas Branch professor of English at the University of Toledo in 1947. Most of the research deals with Generals Forbes, Ourry, and Bouquet. These men were generals during the French and Indian War and were involved in maneuvers in the Pennsylvania/Ohio area.
Other research material deals with a book written by Branch entitled: The Sentimental Years. It was published in 1932 and deals with the Antebellum period of American history.
Also included are various class notes and exams dealing with a number of literary and historical topics. The collection also holds personal and biographical information on Branch.
