Historical/Biographical Sketch

Donovan Frank Emch was born in Woodville, Ohio, October 25th, 1907. He attended Wait High School. In 1929, he receives a B.A., with honors, at the University of Toledo and in 1931 a M.A. at the University of Cincinnati. His graduate major was city government administration. He did additional course work at UT College of Law and the University of Michigan.


Professor Emch’s tenure of 38 years began in 1931 when he was named instructor in political science. Among his numerous activities at UT were editor and advisor of the Campus Collegian, the dramatics association, manager of the football team, member of the athletic board of control, commencement committee, Sigma Alpha Epsilon, American Association of University Professors (President), Alpha Phi Gamma, and Phi Kappa Phi. He has written several articles for the Toledo City Journal. In 1986, he was a member of the Midwest Conference of Political Science, the Toledo Municipal League, American Society for Public Administration, Scottish Rite Masons, and the Lutheran Church. Donovan Frank Emch died on January 1st, 1991.


Scope and Content Note

This collection contains the papers of Donovan F. Emch, professor of political science at the University of Toledo. The papers consist of Faculty Newsletters and Faculty Senate minutes from 1936-1975, annotated by Donovan Emch. The papers are arranged in chronological order.
