In the graphic version, characters called blobs are used for dialog sequences. They are used here as well.

BLOB_1. Citations, also called references, footnotes, endnotes, works cited and bibliographic references, are an important source of information for communicating the meaning of what you are writing
BLOB_2. As well as being the primary method of putting your work in relation with other authors, composers, artists, engineers, creators of all kinds, living and dead; in print or in other medias.

Introduction to citing sources

Identify

BLOB_1. Citations for the most part allow their readers to find the original sources of information that exist in physical space or identify sources of ideas and information less dimensional or more vaporous, like pamphlets, ephemera, or conversations.
BLOB_2. Though recorded information is more common, conversations with your friends are also covered in the rules.
BLOB_1 Citations identify the who, the when, the what and the where.
BLOB_2. The methods or styles used for organizing citation information vary and these various methods are called style sheets or style guides.
