Mulford Services for Patrons with Disabilities

The Mulford Library, along with the Computer Learning Resource Center (CLRC), provides equipment towards the Libraries' goal of ensuring equal access to library services and collections for all patrons. UT students who require personalized assistance with reading, copying, typing, or note-taking can contact the Office Of Accessibility and Disability Resources at 419.530.4981. For TTD (Telecommunications Device for the Deaf) services contact 419.530.2612. Please inform library staff if you encounter any barriers to access.

Adaptive Equipment

The Computer Learning Resource Center (6th Floor Mezzanine, Mulford Library) provides a computer workstation that is customized to assist those with visual and mobility impairments or learning disabilities.This workstation is equippedwith

  • ZoomText - screen enlargement software
  • Dragon Naturally Speaking - dictation software
  • Kurzweil 3000 - scanning system (also on three other workstations)
  • Wheelchair-accessible, adjustable height desk with swing-arm monitor
  • Jaws 9.0 - speech technology which allows access to applications on the Internet

A generic login is used for this workstation.The CLRC staff can provide basic assistance, but cannot provide technical assistance or software instruction.Please see the Office Of Accessibility and Disability Resourcesif you need training on this software.

The Online Resources Room (4th Floor, Mulford Library) provides Sorensen Video Relay Services (VRS). The Sorensen VRS is a free, 24-hour service that allows communications using American Sign Language to place and receive phone calls to a hearing person.

Material Retrieval

Mulford staff can retrieve books and other materials from our shelves for users who are unable to reach materials by themselves. Whenever possible materials are retrieved immediately, butmore time may be neededto provide this service. Patrons can make a request for assistance in person at the Service Desk or call 419.383.4225.This service is only for books and materials at University of Toledo Libraries --other items may be obtained through OhioLINK borrowing or our Interlibrary Loan service. Photocopying of Periodical Articles

For users unable to make their own photocopies, the library staff can photocopy articles or portions of other non-circulating materials from our collections. Photocopies will be made at no cost, and can be picked up at the Service Desk. Patrons can make a request for assistance in person at the Service Desk or call 419.383.4225. Articles from publications not at UT may be obtained through the Interlibrary Loan service (UT affiliates only). (Page top)

Facilities

Wheelchair accessible restrooms are located on the 4th and 5th floors of Mulford Library. On the Health Science Campus, handicap parking space is available in Lot 40, immediately outside Mulford Library. See the Health Sciences Campus Map for locations.
