This side of the flat case exhibits a resolution honoring Ward M. Canaday for his service to Willys-Overland, hubcaps on loan from a private collector, a portrait of Canaday with holiday greetings, and a Scrapbook with newsclippings form 1953 when the ownership of the company was transferred to Kaiser. The Willys News has been brought over from the left side where it is exhibited.

The Willys News, newsletter of the Willys-Overland Company, 1919-1920.  Ward M. Canaday Collection, MSS-072.
Produced for employees, this newsletter included information helpful to the workforce.  The issue from1919 was published after a strike which was ended by a court order.  Articles direct employees who participated in the strike to return to work quickly, or their jobs would be filled by others.

These hubcaps are from a 1925-1926 Overland Model 93 and a 1930 Willys Six/Eight, respectively.

Honoring Canaday

1944

Resolution, 1944.  Ward M. Canaday Collection, MSS-072.
          Done in the style of an illuminated manuscript, this resolution adopted by the board of directors recognizes Canaday for his service to Willys-Overland.

This scrapbook of newspaper clippings documents Kaiser-Frazer’s purchase of Willys-Overland in 1953 for $62 million.  Ward Canaday was offered, but declined, a position at the new company.
