BLS/ACLS Combined Renewal

Date: 8/2/2018  •  Time: 8:00 AM - 2:30 PM;
Location: Unless otherwise designated, the location will be in the Lloyd Jacobs Interprofessional Immersive Simulation Center on the UT Health Science Campus (2920 Transverse Dr, Toledo Ohio)

This course combines two separate renewal courses (BLS & ACLS) into a one-day class. The CPR & ACLS courses will be conducted as separate courses during the day, each with their own completion criteria. Persons enrolling must attend the entire class and must have current certification in at least ACLS. At the end of this course the student will be able to demonstrate sufficient management and knowledge of core material pertaining to respective scope of practice in the following:
- CPR and foreign body obstruction in Adult/Child/Infant patients
- Basic airway management using various ventilatory methods and airway adjuncts
- Conditions such as:
* Ventricular Fibrillation / Pulseless Ventricular using an AED and a manual defibrillator
* Asystole and Pulseless Electrical Activity
* Bradycardias & Tachycardias
* Acute Coronary Syndrome and Ischemic Stroke
- Effective Team Communication and Leadership

At this time, no CME credits are issued thru the University of Toledo for this class. If cancellation is necessary, fees are not applied to later classes, and a refund should be requested. Refunds are issued as follows:
1) All cancellations must be provided in writing to lifesupport@utoledo.edu
2) Cancellation for any reason with at least 2 business days will result in no charge for that class, and a full refund can be provided, if class was pre-paid.
3) For any cancellation with LESS than 2 business days, the class fee will be forfeited. Any exceptions to this charge will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
4) ON THE DAY OF THE CLASS, If the person arrives after class has started, they will need to reschedule. If the person arrives for an advanced class (ACLS / PALS) without the required precourse document, they will need to reschedule. In BOTH of these situations of Item 4, the class fee is forfeited and no refund is provided.

Recertification for participants who provide direct patient care and have experience in cardiac-related situations. Physicians, Nurses, EMS Personnel, and Students of Healthcare Professions.

Must have current ACLS certification in order to attend. Participants must view the BLS online vvidoes and also must complete the 2020 ACLS Precourse Assessment and Precourse Work course found at elearning.heart.org (refer to your student confirmation letter - or contact our office if you have questions!).

-Attendance at the entire course.
-Satisfactory performance in all required skills of both disciplines (BLS and ACLS).
-Post written examination of at least 84% on both written examinations (BLS and ACLS)

Participants should obtain the most current textbooks for both courses (2020 guidelines). Employees should ask their respective manager for a textbook, while all others may purchase a textbook thru shopcpr.heart.org. The text may be used as a reference during the written exam at the end of the course.
