The two-day format is conducted
over 1 and 1/2 days and is designed for those participants who have never taken ACLS, or have prior certifications that are lapsed over a significant period of time. The course is designed to provide the knowledge and skills needed to evaluate and manage the first 10 minutes of an adult ventricular fibrillation arrest and ventricular tachycardia arrest. |

This specific class is intended for 3rd Year Medical Students enrolled at the University of Toledo. |

Prerequisite: |
Must complete the Precourse Assessment found at the AHA's Student website, and bring the printed results to submit at the beginning of the Hands-On session (minimum of 75% required). Also must have attended the Video/Lecture session prior to attending the Hands-On session. |
| Course Completion
Requirements: |
- Attended both Video/Lecture and the Hands-On sessions.
- Satisfactory performance as a team leader in a hands-on cardiac scenario.
-Post written examination of 84% minimum.
Course Objectives state that upon completion of this course, the student will be able to demonstrate sufficient management and knowledge of core material pertaining to respective scope of practice in the following:
- CPR in Adult patients
- Basic airway management utilizing various ventilatory methods and airway adjuncts
- Conditions such as:
* Ventricular Fibrillation / Pulseless Ventricular using an AED and a manual defibrillator
* Asystole and Pulseless Electrical Activity
* Bradycardias & Tachycardias
* Acute Coronary Syndrome and Ischemic Stroke
* Effective Team Communication and Leadership
