The University of Toledo dedicated the Frederic and Mary Wolfe Center on Health Science Campus on Friday, June 24, 2011

The dedication honored the Wolfes for their $2.5 million donation in support of diabetes research at the University through CeDER, the only comprehensive diabetes research center in Northwest Ohio, and a collaboration between the College of Medicine and Life Sciences and the College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences.

The ceremony was held at the site of the center, located between the Block Science and Health Education building. Reception and tours of CeDER and  the Wolfe Center followed the dedication.

"Today, we celebrate a significant milestone in the history of diabetes research and care in Ohio. The center is the brainchild of a group of visionaries... Today, there is a thriving community of scientists, physicians and educators that contribute to the outstanding leadership of our school and represent our best hope for the future of our community…The Wolfe endowment and gift celebrate the progress made in the only comprehensive diabetes research center in Northwest Ohio...Establishing a research center at a time of decreasing federal and state support turned out to be as complex and challenging as the disease itself. But, we followed a strategic plan that allowed us to build a successful infrastructure... Despite this success, this is not our final destination. A lot of work remains to be done... ", said Dr. Najjar.
