Institutional Awards

The University of Toledo awarded Dr. Imran Ali the Robert T. Tidrick Golden Apple Award for Teaching Excellence in Clinical Sciences (2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2012)

2011 - The University of Toledo awarded Dr. Gretchen Tietjen the Outstanding Faculty Research Award

2010 - The University of Toledo inducted Dr. Gretchen Tietjen into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society

2010 - The University of Toledo awarded Dr. Imran Ali the Dean's Award for Excellence in Education for his dedicated contributions

2009 - The University of Toledo selected Dr. Lawrence Elmer as the recipient of the 2009 Faculty Club Service Award for his dedication and exceptional service to the University of Toledo

2009 - The Gold Foundation presented Dr. Selena Nicholas-Bublick with the 2009 Humanism and Excellence in Teaching Award

2004 -  The Medical University of Ohio selected Dr. Gretchen Tietjen as the recipient of the 2004 Faculty Club Service Award for her dedication and exceptional service to the Medical University of Ohio

2003 - The Arnold P. Gold Foundation presented Dr. Lawrence Elmer with the Leonard Tow 2003 Humanism in Medicine Award in recognition of exemplary compassion, competence, and respect in the delivery of care

The Dean's Award for Teaching Excellence went to Dr. Noor Pirzada in 1998, Dr. Gretchen Tietjen in 2001, Dr. Lawrence Elmer in 2003, Dr. Imran Ali in 2004 and Dr. Vicki Ramsey-Williams in 2011

The Golden Apple Award, determined by vote of the medical students, has been awarded to Dr. Imran Ali (2005,2006, 2007, 2008, 2010, 2012), Dr. Lawrence Elmer (2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2010, 2011) and Dr. Noor Pirzada (1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2007, 2008, 2009)

International Awards

2011 - Dr Gretchen Tietjen has been awarded the international award "Hardold G. Wolff Lecture Award for Headache Research"

2010 -  The American Heart Association Journal Stroke selected Dr. Gretchen Tietjen to receive the Stroke Innovation Research Award at the International Stroke Meeting

National Awards

The Best Doctors in America recognition has been given to Dr. Gretchen Tietjen (1996-2010), Dr. Imran Ali (2007-2008,2009-2010, 2012, 2013), Dr. Lawrence Elmer (2001-2010), Dr. Boyd Koffman (2009-2010), and Dr. Noor Pirzada (1998-2002, 2005-2006)

2005-2010- The American Heart Association Get With The Guidelines Program Performance Award was given to the University of Toledo Medical Center Stroke Center for excellence in stroke care 

2010 - The American Academy of Neurology presented Dr. Noor Pirzada with the  Consortium of Neurology Program Directors Recognition Award

2010- The American Headache Society Women’s Issues section award Dr. Gretchen Tietjen the Pink Brain Award for her research in migraine

2009 - The American Academy of Neurology welcomed Dr. Imran Ali into their distinguished group of members as a Fellow, with privileges in good standing since 1996

2008 - The American Headache Society awarded Dr. Gretchen Tietjen the  Seymour Solomon Presidential Lecture Award

2007 - Dr. Imran Ali was awarded with the Leonard P. Tow Humanism in Medicine Award

2005 - The American Academy of Neurology has recognized Dr. Imran Ali for his excellence in neurologic education and added him to the National Honor Role of Neurology Teachers

2005 - The Mayo Foundation awarded Dr. Noor Pirzada with the Visiting Professor of Neurology Education Award

2004 - The National Multiple Sclerosis Society presented Dr. Boyd Koffman with the 2004 Outstanding Professional Award

2002 - The American Academy of Neurology has recognized Dr. Noor Pirzada for his excellence in neurology education and added him to the National Honor Role of Neurology Teachers

2001 - The Association of University Professors of Neurology Award for outstanding success in encouraging students to elect careers in Neurology went to the Department of Neurology at MUO
