Welcome to the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology

Welcome to the University of Toledo Medical Center Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology.  Our hope is that this website will give you, a patient, a prospective student or resident, or a referring physician, an opportunity to learn about our department.  The Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology is an academic department devoted to education, research, clinical services and advocacy for women. 

The core of our mission is to provide improved healthcare for women in Northwest Ohio and the surrounding tri-state area.  Central to accomplishing this mission is the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology Residency Program.  Four residents per year are trained to provide comprehensive, compassionate, and skilled care for women of all ages.

The department is part of the University of Toledo School of Medicine and Medical Center. In collaboration with colleagues located at both the University of Toledo Medical Center and ProMedica Toledo Hospital, a full range of general and subspecialty inpatient and outpatient services are available.  The department is proud of the dedicated and dynamic teaching faculty at both institutions.  Their top priorities include excellent patient care and educating the next generation of outstanding physicians. 

These faculty are also committed to furthering evidence-based medicine by their involvement in clinical, translational, and basic science scholarly activity.  Faculty also collaborate with research groups throughout the University of Toledo Health Science Campus, the National Institutes of Health Gynecologic Oncology Group, and other interdepartmental ventures.

Dedicated and hard-working residents form the core of our department.  Although residency is a time of intense work, our residents are happy and honored to be a part of the educational process.  They have great pride in the training that they are receiving.  More than adequate clinical volume is available to attain confidence in the entire spectrum of this specialty.  Our curriculum is also enhanced by a newly designed state-of-the-art simulation center, clinical and basic science research opportunities, and consistently protected weekly didactic sessions.

The University of Toledo Medical Center is located in the heart of Toledo, Ohio and is the singular academic healthcare system in the region of Northwest Ohio.  The city of Toledo, with approximately one half million residents, provides many cultural and recreational opportunities.  Enjoy our lakes, bays and rivers, take in an historical tour, check out our world class Toledo Museum of Art, visit our award winning Toledo Zoo, catch a game with the Toledo Mud Hens, or enjoy the world famous Tony Packo’s Restaurant.
