About the Program

The Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences (MSBS) in Assistant in Pathology program utilizes innovative instructional methods in conjunction with the medical school and physician assistant program’s diverse resources to provide students with outstanding educational opportunities. The curriculum provides graduates with the knowledge and skills needed to maximize healthcare as Pathologists’ Assistants and leaders in ever evolving healthcare industry.

Our program is in “serious applicant status” by National Accreditation Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS). In order to be eligible for the Board of Certification (BOC) examination given by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), applicants must be graduates of a Pathologists’ Assistant educational program accredited by NAACLS. The AAPA is dedicated to the advocacy and advancement of pathologists’ assistant profession. The AAPA advocates, promotes and sustains the highest education and professional standards for the profession, for all associated educational training programs and for individual pathologists' assistants. Additionally, the AAPA strives to promote and support high quality standards within the scope of practice for pathologists' assistants in anatomic pathology, ensuring the provision of high quality patient care.
