Congratulations to Sivarajan Kumarasamy, Sumeet Solanki, Oluwatomisin T. Atolagbe, Bina Joe, Lutz Birnbaumer and Guillermo Vazquez! Their manuscript, “Deep transcriptomic profiling of M1 macrophages lacing Trpc3”, was accepted for publication in Scientific Reports. Well done!


Congratulations to our MOME track postdoctoral fellow, Dr. Lance Stechschulte! His Postdoctoral Fellowship Award application, titled "Identifying the contribution of PP5 phosphatase to the pathogenesis of diabetes and osteoporosis," was approved for funding by the American Diabetes Association!  His mentor is Dr. Beata Lecka-Czernik. 


Congratulations to Dr. Terry Hinds and Lab, whose recent manuscript, "Biliverdin reductase A attenuates hepatic steatosis by inhibition of glycogen synthase kinase (GSK) 3β phosphorylation of serine 73 of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor (PPAR) α", was accepted for publication by the Journal of Biological Chemistry!


Congratulations to Drs. Beata Lecka-Czernik, Lance Stechschulte, Edwin Sanchez and Terry Hinds in collaboration with Dr. Franceschi (Michigan) whose manuscript, "Protein Phosphatase PP5 Controls Bone Mass and the Negative Effects of Rosiglitazone on Bone through Reciprocal Regulation of PPARγ and RUNX2" was accepted for publication by the Journal of Biological Chemistry!

Congratulations to Dr. Terry Hinds! The manuscript titled, "Does Bilirubin Prevent Hepatic Steatosis Through Activation of the PPARA Nuclear Receptor?" by Terry D. Hinds Jr, Samuel O. Adeosun, Abdulhadi A. Alamodi, David E. Stec was accepted in the journal Medical Hypotheses.

Congratulations to Assumpta Nwaneri, Lucien McBeth and Dr. Terry Hinds, whose manuscript, "Prostate Cancer in African American Men: The Effect of Androgens and Microarnas on Epidermal Growth Factor Signaling", was accepted for publication in Hormones and Cancer. It discusses the predilection of African American men in Prostate Cancer compared to Caucasian American.


Congratulations Dr. Bina Joe! In 2014 the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute convened a Working Group (WG) to discuss new emerging aspects of the impact of salt on human health and disease, with emphasis on hypertension.  The WG brought together experts from a variety of scientific backgrounds. Dr. Bina Joe was among those experts and as part of this WG, she co-authored the recently released WG's review report published in Hypertension. Congratulations to Dr. Vazquez and Prabhat Dube! The review article: "Vascular calcification in atherosclerosis: Potential roles of macrophages and non-coding micro-RNAs" by Prabhat Dube and Guillermo Vazquez, has been accepted for publication in Osteology Updates (Actualizaciones en Osteologia), a journal of the Argentinean Society of Osteology and Mineral Metabolism.


Congratulations to Dr. Vazquez and lab! "Early steatohepatitis in hyperlipidemic mice with endothelial-specific gain of TRPC3 function precedes changes in aortic atherosclerosis" by Kathryn Smedlund, Prabhatachandra Dube and Guillermo Vazquez, has been accepted for publication in Physiological Genomics.
