    Paul Rega, MD, FACEP

Dr. Rega has been an emergency physician for thirty years and is board-certified in Emergency Medicine.  Apart from his labors in the emergency department and on air ambulances, his professional interests have included the fields of hyperbaric medicine, intraosseous infusions, and acupuncture.

For the past twenty-five years, one principal interest has been in the field of Disaster Medicine.  He founded the OH-1 Disaster Medical Assistance Team (NDMS) and has been on a number of disaster deployments including Hurricane Andrew, Hurricane Marilyn, and the Red River Floods.  His involvement with OH-1 DMAT afforded him the unique opportunity to be invited to Taiwan to assist in the development of one of their two national disaster response teams.

Besides publishing and presenting scientific articles and lectures in a number of fields, he has also created and published Bio-Terry: A Stat Guide for the Recognition and Management of Biological Terrorism and Chem-Terry: A Rapid Recognition and Response Guide to Chemical Agents of Terrorism.  Through a grant from MIPT, he co-created a Bioterrorism Recognition Wall Chart which was distributed to hospitals and health professionals around the country.

He is founder-partner in two companies devoted to disaster management and anti-terrorism preparedness, MASCAP, Inc. and ERRATA-LLC. Through the latter company, he and his associates have created, in 2006, a disaster-oriented website, projectdisaster.com and in 2007, a botulism-related website, botulismtoolkit.com.  In 2008, as Director of Education and Disaster Preparedness for OMNI Health Services, Dr. Rega is managing an emergency medicine website, >Finally, in 2008, Dr. Rega’s activities are now concentrated in education and research, both in the fields of Public Health and Emergency Medicine. Most of this will be taking place with The University of Toledo.
