Her many articles include one on class mate Shahid Islam (PhD'98) in October 2003. Other articles include "Plant Sciences: A Minority Perspective" and "Perspectives: Preparing Postdocs of Color".   • Sandra Beach, (MS'98) is a PhD candidate in the Molecular Basis for Disease program at the Medical University of Ohio.(posted July 2006) 
  • Arlene Billock (MS'91) is a member of the National Wetlands Research Center's Coastal Prairie Ecology Research (CPER) Team and an Instructor at the University of Louisiana Lafayette Biology Department. (posted July 2006)
  • Jennifer Bobish (Corrigan) (UT BA'95 and MS'97) is a Technical Training Specialist with Jackson Labs in Bar Harbor, Maine. She married fellow UT student Brian Corrigan. (posted July 2006) 
  • Doug Brewer (MS'91) is the Refuge Manager at Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge west of Port Clinton, OH. Doug was recently in the news with Ottawa NWR receiving $1.35 million for a visitor center as the result of fines imposed on Davis-Besse. See Toledo Blade story. (posted Jan 2006) 
  • Dawn Brown (UT BA'92 and MS'95) is now working at Pfizer. She married fellow UT student Scott Wise. (posted July 2006) 
  • "Tom" Bubulya (UT BS'92 and PhD'98) ia an instructor in the Biological Sciences Department at Wayne State University. Last year, he made a career transition to bioeducation, and had the pleasure of teaching current molecular biology techniques to high school students and teachers at the Dolan DNA Learning Center at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory in New York. He hopes to initiate new community outreach programs at the high school level at WSU. He married fellow UT student Paula Bubulya (Sacco). (posted July 2005)

  • Michael Homsher (PhD'00) is an Associate Professor, School of Environmental and Emergency Management, University of Findlay, Ohio. (posted July 2006) 
  • Shahid Islam (PhD'98) joined the Department of Pathology at Northwestern Memorial University Hospital in Chicago in November 2003. Following his PhD at UT, Dr. Islam was a Pathology Resident at the Medical College of Ohio School of Medicine, Toledo and had a Cytopathology Subspecialty Fellowship at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Dallas. Dr. Islam was featured recently in an October 2003 article for Science's Next Wave published by the AAAS and written by Robin Arnette (PhD'99). (posted October 2003)

  • Stephanie Kaplan (Mahoney) (UT BS'95 and MS'97) is a teacher at Sylvania Southview High School. (posted July 2006) 
  • Michele Klingbeil, (PhD'96) accepted a tenure track position as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Microbiology at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst MA. She has spent the last few years as a Research Associate with Paul Englund at Johns Hopkins University. (posted July 2006)
  • Cathleen Kosinski (MS UT'05) is a Visiting Assistant Instructor in the UT Biological Sciences Department. (posted July 2006) 
  • Jani Lewis (PhD'95) did a postdoc at University of Michigan and was a Visiting Assistant Professor at UT. She is an Assistant Professor of Biology SUNY-Geneseo. (posted July 2004) 
  • Stephen McGregor (MS'95) earned his PhD in health education in 2001 at UT. He married fellow UT student Christy Frankowski. He is the Director of the Applied Physiology Laboratory at Eastern Michigan University. He is also the Cycling, Triathlon and Endurance Sport Coach for The Peaks Coaching Group. He competed for several years as a USCF category I racer and still competes as a USCF category II racer and in masters events. (posted July 2006) 
  • Jerome Mezui (MS'05) is an assistant researcher at Centre International de Recherches Medicales (CIRMF) in Franceville, Gabon. (posted July 2006)
  • Tim Mininger (MS'05) married fellow classmate Lori (Militello) Mininger. He is now at OSU's School of Dentistry pursing his DDS. (posted July 2006)

  • Josephat Omwancha (PhD'05) began his post-doctoral work at John Hopkins School of Medicine. (posted June 2005) 
  • Jonathan C. Pfeifer (MS'04) went to the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine for his MD. He is currently a Psychiatry resident at the University of Cincinnati and plans on doing a fellowship in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center.   • Narasimham Parinandi "Pari" (PhD'86) was appointed as an Assistant Professor at OSU College of Medicine's Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine. Pari has held a variety of appointments including an NIH post-doctoral trainee and research associate at the University of Minnesota’s Hormel Institute, researcher at Peripheral Nerve Center of the Mayo Clinic, an information scientist/editor at the American Chemical Society’s Chemical Abstracts Service, researcher at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland.   • Punsasi Rajakaruna (PhD'05) is a researcher at the Agricultural Research Center at Washington State University in Prosser, WA. (posted July 2006) 
  • Robert Rhee (MS'91) completed a fellowship with the Pediatric Ophthalmology and Adult Strabismus Center at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Los Angeles, CA. He is now a practicing ophthalmologist in Toledo. (posted July 2004) 
  • Valerie Ruff (UT BA'85 and MS'87) is working at Eli Lilly, Inc in Indianapolis. She worked for many years at UpJohn (Pharmacia/ Pfizer) in Kalamazoo, MI. (posted July 2006) 
  • Paula Sacco (Bubulya) (PhD'98) was a Postdoctoral Fellow at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, New York. She is now an Assistant Professor at Wright State University Department of Biological Sciences. She married fellow UT grad Tom Bubulya. (posted July 2006)

  • Brenda Simmers (Leady) (MS'93) is the Lab Coordinator for Biological Sciences at UT. She is also a PhD student in EEES at UT. (posted July 2006) 
  • James Wahl (UT BS'93 and PhD'00) was appointed as a tenure track Assistant Professor in the Department of Oral Biology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska in Fall 2003. (posted July 2006)
