Class of 1989

  • Steven Matzinger (£) received his M.D. and Ph.D.(Pathology) from The Medical College of Ohio in 1996. He served his internship and residencies at The Mercy Hospital of Pittsburgh, serving at Chief Resident from 2000-01. Subsequently, he joined Newberry Surgical Associates (Newberry, SC) in General, Vascular, Laparoscopic and Thoracic Surgery. (posted July 2006)
  • Carol Barlage (£) earned her M.D. at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and completed her internship and residency at Fairview Hospital (Cleveland, OH) before accepting a Fellowship in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Harrisburg Hospital (Harrisburg, PA). She is Board Certified by the American Board of Family Practice and practices at the Stanford Family Medicine, Stanford CA. She is also faculty at Stanford Medical School's Center for Education in Family and Community Medicine. (posted July 2006)
  • David Fulton (£) received his M.D. from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. He went on to residency at Indiana University Medical Center, Indianapolis and a fellowship in Hand surgery at University of Cincinnati Medical Center. His specialty is hand and upper extremity surgery, general orthopaedics at the Moore Orthopaedic clinic in Columbia, SC. (posted July 2006) 
       

Class of 1988

  • Angela Anagnos (£) earned her MD from OSU College of Medicine. She then completed her residency at Case Western/ University Hospitals in Cleveland and a neuromuscular/ neurophysiology and sleep disorder fellowships at Stanford. She is practicing sleep disorders medicine and neurology in Northern California since 1999. (posted April 2005)
  • Lisa Kohler received her M.D. from The Medical College of Ohio and completed her anatomy and clinical pathology training at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. She was hired as the Deputy Medical Examiner in Summit County in November 1998 and was promoted to Chief Deputy Medical Examiner in June 2000. She is the first woman to serve as Medical Examiner in Summit County (OH). (posted July 2006) 
       

Class of 1987

  • Mazin Salem earned his MD and practices internal medicine in Sylvania, Ohio. (posted July 2006)
  • Charles Toth earned his PhD in Microbiology/ Immunology from the University of Virginia. He did postdoctoral work at Howard Hughes Medical Institute, University of California, San Francisco and University of California, San Francisco. He is an Assistant Professor and Pre-Graduate School Advisor for the Department of Biology at Providence College, Providence, Rhode Island. (posted July 2006) 
       
        

Class of 1986

  • Glen Cooke graduated Cum Laude and went on to received his MD degree from the Medical College of Ohio in Toledo in 1990, followed by internship and residency training in Internal Medicine at that institution from 1990-1993. He was a fellow in the Division of Cardiology at Ohio State from 1994-1997, and completed a molecular biology fellowship in 1998. He is assistant professor of medicine, The Ohio State University College of Medicine and Public Health and director of the Molecular Biology and Genotyping Laboratory, Division of Cardiovascular Medicine, the OSU College of Medicine and Public Health. Dr. Cooke is also a member of the Institutional Review Board for Human Subjects and preceptor for the Physical Exam Course, both at The Ohio State University. (posted July 2006) 

 

Class of 1985

  • Kent Bishop is an OB/GYN with Promedica Physician's Group in Toledo. (posted July 2006)
  • John Kusnier is the Development Group Manager for The Mannik and Smith Group, a civial engineering, surveying and environmental consulting firm based in Maumee. (posted July 2006)
  • Valerie Ruff is working at Eli Lilly, Inc in Indianapolis. She worked for many years at UpJohn (Pharmacia/ Pfizer) in Kalamazoo, MI. (posted July 2006) 
       
      

Class of 1984

  • Kelly Hardin (Evanoff) completed her MD and is practicing in Swanton, Ohio. (posted July 2006)
  • Charles Filipiak earned his MD from MCO* and an MPH from Harvard. He is an associate professor of medicine and chief of endoscopy MUO*. He wrote an article for "University Health Matters" on colon cancer screening. (posted December 2005)
  • Leon McDougle completed his MD in 1989 at The Ohio State University College of Medicine & Public Health. He did his residency at the Naval Hospital at Camp Pendleton, CA. He earned an MPH from the University of Michigan School of Public Health in 2000. He is now Assistant Professor of Family Medicine, Assistant Dean for Diversity and Cultural Affairs and the Urban Residency Director at Ohio State University's College of Medicine. (posted July 2006)
  • Jonna McRury is a native Toledoan who graduated from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine and completed her pediatric residency training at St. Louis University. She spent two years in Pediatric Emergency Medicine before joining the faculty at MUO* in 1993. In 2004 she moved to Columbus and is on staff at Columbus Pediatrics Hospital. Class of 1983

  • John "Chip" Evanoff completed his MD and is in family practice in Metamora, OH. He was featured in a Toledo Blade article on black bears. (posted June 2006) 
         

Class of 1982

  • Douglas Geiger earned an MS in Biology at UT in 1984. He earned his MD at the Medical College of Ohio*. He completed a Surgical Internship and orthopedic Surgery Residency at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. He went on to complete a research fellowship in Orthopedic Spine Surgery at the University of Minnesota and a Spine clinical fellowship at the Twin Cities Scoliosis Spine Center. He is now an orthopedic surgeon at Michigan Brain & Spine Institute in Ann Arbor, MI. (posted July 2006) 
      

Class of 1981 

  • Dr. David Pinsky (UT'81,) an internationally recognized authority in vascular biology and formerly a professor at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, joined the University of Michigan Medical School Department of Internal Medicine as chief of the Division of Cardiology in 2003. He is the first occupant of the J. Griswold Ruth M.D. and Margery Hopkins Ruth Professorship in Internal Medicine. He is the Outstanding Alumnus from the College of Arts and Sciences (in the Sciences) for Homecoming 2003. (posted 2003)  

Class of 1980

  • Susan Clay (Clay-Hufford) is a pediatrician at Toledo Pediatric Associates. She is married to fellow UT alum David Hufford. (posted July 2006)
