About the Display: This display box contains:

  • Mg ribbons - it is one of the first elements we come across while in chemistry lab
  • Magnesium Citrate Oral Solution is a saline laxative. It is used for relief of occasional constipation (irregularity). It generally produces bowel movement in 1/2 to 6 hours.
  • MagOx is an antacid used to help cure heartburn.
  • Magnesium supplements help in maintaining a person’s magnesium levels and can be used to prevent migraine headaches.
  • Pure Magnesium Metal

Magnesium is an important element for the proper functioning of the body's muscles and nerves. Deficiency of magnesium can lead to a wide range of adverse effects. As pharmacy students and future pharmacists, it is our responsibility to keep an eye on a patient's magnesium levels and dose magnesium containing products appropriately.

About the Contributor: Akshith Dass is President of the University of Toledo chapter of The Student National Pharmaceutical Association and coordinated the donation to the display on behalf of the organization.
