The Instrumentation Center

Come visit us in the newly renovated I-Center! We are open!

The Instrumentation Center was formed in 1985 from a grant by the State of Ohio. The primary purpose of the Center is to support research activities of the faculty of The University of Toledo by providing advice, technical assistance and access to advanced scientific equipment; this includes education and training for graduate students. Important secondary purposes are to support the research activities of other Universities and to assist local business ventures in solving sophisticated scientific problems.

Currently, the Center provides assistance to UToledo researchers in the Colleges of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, Engineering and Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences. The Center specializes in Crystallographic studies and is the home to the Ohio Crystallographic Consortium (OCC).

Staff from local manufacturing industries, and from commercial analytical and testing laboratories, often consult with Center staff for a number of purposes, such as:

    • Identification of problems
    • Assistance with the development of a problem solving plans
    • Interpretation of results
    • Access to equipment not available from other sources

If you have a scientific problem you would like to discuss with us, want further information or would like to visit the Center, please feel free to contact us: 419.530.7847 or email to kristin.kirschbaum@utoledo.edu.
