Scout Programs


Throughout the year, Ritter Planetarium offers specialized programs for Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and Cub Scouts & Brownies. These programs not only assist scouts in completing astronomy requirements, but also inspire them to stargaze in the future.

Boy Scout Merit Badge Program

November 16, 2019 @ 6:30 PM

Based on updated guidelines from the Boy Scouts and utilizing our state-of-the-art projection system and a custom series of worksheets, this two- hour program will give participants all the information and experience needed to earn their merit badge (although they will have to make a few observations in the days after the program). Observing at the Brooks Observatory follows, weather permitting. Reservations, usually on the troop level, are required. The fee is $12 per person, including adults.


Cub Scout and Brownies Astronomy/Space Science Program 

November 2, 2019 @ 3:00 PM
This two-hour program (with an intermission) features a fulldome planetarium program utilizing our state-of-the-art projection system along with an interactive tour of the nigh time sky and a live program meeting all the guidelines for Cub Scouts and Brownies. Solar observing, weather permitting, is also included. Reservations, usually on the troop level, are required. The fee is $10 per person, including adults.

Girl Scout Space Exploration Ribbon Program 

November 2, 2019 @ 6:30 PM
Based on updated guidelines from the Girl Scouts and utilizing our state-of-the-art projection system and a custom series of worksheets, this two-hour program will give participants all the information and experience needed to earn their space exploration ribbon. Observing at the Brooks Observatory follows, weather permitting. Reservations, usually on the troop level, are required. The fee is $12 per person, including adults.
