EXCITING RECENT RENOVATIONS!
Ritter Planetarium recently underwent major renovations, including the installation of a new SciDome XD video projection system. The first of its kind ever installed, the SciDome XD will allow Ritter to take you from your own backyard to distant galaxies using the new state of the art projection system (capable of displaying over 6 million pixels on the surface of the dome). Combined with new carpeting and seating, new displays in the lobby, and a new 5.1 surround sound system, the Ritter Planetarium is fully updated for the 21st century and is ready to provide fun, educational, and engaging experiences for you and your children. Make your reservations now to be one of the first to see this unique and powerful system!
Throughout the year, Ritter Planetarium offers specialized programs for Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and Cub Scouts & Brownies. These programs not only assist scouts in completing astronomy requirements, but also inspire them to stargaze in the future.
Cub Scout & Brownie Astronomy Program

The Ritter Planetarium-Brooks Observatory Cub Scout & Brownie Astronomy Program includes a tour and use of the hands-on displays in our lobby and two special planetarium shows. Each group is also given a useful star and planet locator to keep and use in future stargazing. All programs are offered on Saturday afternoons and begin at 3:00 PM. Each program lasts about 1.5 to 2 hours. Seating is limited! Cub Scout & Brownie Astronomy Programs will be offered:
- Saturday, January 21, 2012
- Saturday, February 11, 2012
- Saturday, March 17, 2012
- Saturday, April 14, 2012
- Saturday, May 12, 2012
If your pack would like to attend a Cub Scout & Brownie Astronomy Program, please call in advance to reserve seating. Admission is $9.00 per person, including all attending adults.
Boy/Girl Scout Combined Program

The Ritter Planetarium-Brooks Observatory Scout Program is based on the requirements to earn a Boy Scout Astronomy Merit Badge and Girl Scout Sky Search Badge. The program includes a tour and use of the hands-on displays in our lobby, a specialized planetarium program, and either a tour of the Ritter 1-Meter Telescope, or observing at the Brooks Observatory, weather permitting. Scouts are also given a helpful workbook based on the individual badge requirements, and each group is given a useful star and planet locator to keep and use during future stargazing. Scout Programs will be offered:
- Saturday, January 21, 2012
- Thursday, February 9, 2012
- Saturday, March 17, 2012
- Tuesday, April 17, 2012
- Saturday, May 12, 2012
All programs begin at 6:30 PM and last 2.5 to 3 hours. Seating is limited! Contact us soon to reserve a spot. Admission is $11.00 per person including all attending adults. While this program covers most of the Astronomy Merit Badge and Sky Search Badge requirements, it does not complete them all.
