A. Persons hired meet management criteria in terms of both skills and numbers.

  1. Are potential candidates inside the University investigated and reviewed before considering external candidates?
  2. Is information maintained on potential candidates or sources of candidates both within and outside the industry and geographic area?
  3. Are adequate job descriptions and hiring criteria maintained to assess the qualifications of candidates in relation to the job requirements?
  4. Have appropriate processes been developed for job candidate identification, screening, and hiring practices?
  5. Have networks and candidate sources outside of the local geographical area been established?
  6. Is information maintained on acceptable candidates who were not offered the current position?
  7. Is feedback obtained from new hires and their managers to help improve the hiring process?
  8. Are specialists at recruitment agencies used to locate potential job candidates and to post open job positions?
  9. Do human resource personnel have appropriate training and experience prior to being hired?
  10. Are union demands identified continually, and reasonable steps taken to avoid labor disputes?
  11. Are written procedures documented to describe the legal requirements for recruiting, hiring, and compensating personnel?
  12. Are all employees held responsible for recruiting, hiring, and providing personnel with appropriate training?
  13. Are human resource records filed and retained in accordance with good business practice?
