Pre-departure and Arrival Information
Predeparture & Arrival Information
Arrival Information—Important! Please Read
Before leaving for the U.S., make sure you:
√ Print a copy of this information for reference while you travel
√ Have all (those that apply to you) immigration documents in a safe place on your person --visa, passport or travel papers, I-20, I-94, DS-2019--for questions visit http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis
**IMPORTANT**—Your I-94 will be given to you at some point during your arrival in to the U.S. It serves as an arrival and departure record of each time you leave and return to the country. Be certain to print your name on the card as it appears on the identification page of your passport. DO NOT misplace this as it is very expensive to replace ($300 U.S.)
√ Make and confirm pick-up arrangements- If you will need transportation to the University from an airport, bus or train station, please fill out an Arrival Request Form as soon as possible . You will recieve a confirmation of your arrival request in 1- 3 business days.
*Please provide us the information regarding your arrival date, time, and flight number at least one week prior to your arrival date.
For more information regarding travel arrangements, please visit the Transportation and Arrival Page
√ Make on or off campus temporary housing arrangements- If you do not wish to do so upon your arrival—please visit Housing Information page for instructions
√ Have some cash on your person- (around $250 U.S.). It is your choice regarding how much to bring, however, it is recommended that the rest of your funds be in the form of a traveler’s check that you can deposit in the bank of your choice upon arrival. A credit card is also highly recommended, however, please make sure it will work in the U.S. prior to departure. We also strongly recommend that you bring several quarters (each quarter=$.25 U.S.D.) for things like payphones and vending machines.
Please forward all arrival inquries to the Office of Intenational Student Services at 419.530.4229 or via email at InternatlSS@utoledo.edu
