ADA Compliance

The University of Toledo is committed to making its web content accessible to all visitors to the site by implementing the principles of universal design and following the web accessibility standards and guidelines.

The Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 as Amended in 2008 (ADAAA) along with Sections 504 and 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 are laws that protect the rights of individuals with disabilities. ADA law pertaining to technology requires that public institutions make every effort to ensure that their technology is accessible.

To uphold our commitment and ensure our web presence is accessible, we abide by the Technology Accessibility Policy. In part, this means that we follow the World Wide Web Consortium's Web Content Accessibility Guidelines for our web pages. These guidelines establish a minimum standard to ensure accessibility for all people. Some examples of these procedures include:

  • Provide text alternatives for any non-text content so that it can be changed into other forms people need.
  • Create content that can be presented in different ways without losing information or structure.
  • Make it easier for users to see and hear content including separating foreground from background.
