    Who Can Study at the ALI?

    Type of student

    Requirements

    International students on F-1 or J-1 visas

    Must study full-time

    International students on a visitor's visa

    (B-2)

    May only study part-time during their authorized period of stay; English study is not their main reason for being in the US

    Persons on certain kinds of work visas

    May only study part-time; English study helps them in their work

    Dependents of people on a student visa (husband, wife, son, daughter)

    May study part-time only

    Dependents of people on most work visas. May study part-time or full-time

    Permanent residents, green card holders, and US citizens whose native language is not English

    May study full-time or part-time
