In winter, the wind can blow and make the air feel much colder. It is important to buy your winter clothes before you need them. Here are some things that all students should have by October: a heavy coat, boots, gloves, a scarf, a hat that covers your ears, and long underwear.
In winter people's skin can get very dry. You might want to use hand lotion. For your lips, you can use a product like Chapstick or Blistex.
If the air in your apartment is too dry, you might want to get a humidifier. This machine puts moisture into the air. If you get a humidifier, be sure to keep it very clean.
In winter, it's a good idea to dress in layers, like an onion. Wear a shirt and one or two sweaters. That way, if you get hot, you can take a sweater off. If you get cold, you can put one on.
UT classrooms can sometimes be hot or cold, so you may need to put on or take off layers inside the buildings.
