    International Student Association

    Member organizations of International Student Association will prepare their area creating an expression of their country. Colorful displays and music along with ethnic foods will accentuate each area of the village. A fashion show and entertainment will also be presented.

    Adjusting to Life in the USA (information session)

    Students learn about apartment lease, roommate issue, cleanliness, importance of being on time, etc.

    All day trip. International students can invite their family and friends.

    Chinese New Year
    Chinese Student Union (CSU)

    This event not only provides local people with a great chance to get a taste of the thousands-year-old traditions and culture of China, but also fosters communication between people of different ethnicities and backgrounds. This event has an international stage, where everyone can collectively contribute and enjoy the results.

    How to Talk Like an American (information session)

    Students learn about American slang and regional accents.

    March

    International Dinner

    A formal dinner, international appetizers, fashion show, and a variety of international entertainment provided by members of the International Student Association makes this a truly unique event.

    Travel in the USA & Returning Home (information session)

    Students learn about I-20, visa requirement, passport, immigration regulations etc.

     Trip to the Toledo Zoo                           

    All day trip. International students can invite their family and friends.

    American Independence Day Party

    Football 101 ( attend a UT football game)     

    Pre-game party. Students learn about American Football, The basic information about the game will be provided in an enjoyable fashion to improve your understanding and enjoyment of the game.

    Cricket Match
     Indian Students’ Cultural Organization(ISCO)

    Popular sport in India. The annual cricket tournament is about bringing all the students at UT on a cricket field and enjoying the game of cricket. It’s all about team spirit, sportsmanship, heated arguments, enjoying the game. Cricket is by far the most passionate game in India, and we have a lot of cricket lovers here at UT. The Annual ISCO Cricket Tournaments gives the students an opportunity to forget studies, assignments and enjoy the game of cricket and have a blast over the weekend.

    Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival 
    Chinese Student Union (CSU)

    Throughout Chinese history, the Mid-Autumn Festival, sometimes referred to as the Moon Festival, has been a celebration of the wholeness, abundance and rejoicing of family as symbolized by the full moon. . This is an opportunity to promote understanding and relations between people of different cultures, the CSU invites students, faculty, staff, and community members to be a part of the celebration.

    Hafla
    Arab Student Union (ASU)

    Students, faculty, staff and their families celebrate the end of the fast with the joyous festival of Eid Al-Fitr, the Festival of Breaking the Fast. This is an opportunity to promote understanding and relations between people of different cultures, the ASU invites students, faculty, staff, and community members to be a part of the celebration.

    Annual Homecoming Events are a unique time of year that brings together students, faculty, staff, alumni and the Toledo community to celebrate their pride in The University of Toledo and reflects the diversity on our campus.

    Toledo International Hospitality Program

    The purpose for this program is to cooperatively promote cross-cultural learning and friendship between the community and the University to provide international students at the University of Toledo a positive, culturally rich experience outside the classroom and to offer local citizens the opportunity and pleasure of making international friends.

    International Education Week

    Celebrating and Promoting International Education and Exchange International Education Week (IEW) is a joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education to recognize the global exchange environment between the United States and other countries.

    To promote increased knowledge and understanding of differing cultures between University international students and U.S. American students (contrasting both differences and similarities).

    Diwali Celebration Indian Students’ Cultural Organization(ISCO)

     

    Indian Festival of Lights where the lights or lamps signify victory of good over the evil within every human being. The event provides the opportunity to participate in the celebrations and rituals of Diwali festival. This is an opportunity to promote understanding and relations between people of different cultures, the ISCO invite students, faculty, staff, and community members to be a part of the celebration.

    I-Bash Dance party
    International Student Association

    This event brings together domestic and international students to appreciate global language of music and dance.

    Holiday Sing Along

     

    Multicultural Holiday Sing-Along as students, faculty and community members celebrate the season with songs in seven different languages. The event is sponsored by clubs and honoraries of the department of foreign languages and the office of study abroad.

    December

    Trip to the Toledo Museum of Art                        

    All day trip. International students can invite their family and friends.

     

    World Cafe (country/culture information sharing sessions)

    American and international students share their culture, tradition, and values.

     

    Basketball 101 (& attend a UT basketball game)                 

    Pre-game party. Students learn about Basketball, The basic information about the game will be provided in an enjoyable fashion to improve your understanding and enjoyment of the game.
