B.U.D.D.I.E.S (Bridging Unique Dimensions, Developing Intercultural Experiences and Skills)
"In a sense, my 'buddy' Kristin became my first real friend here. She was so helpful and understanding, and made it much easier for me during the first year here."
-Johi, Pakistan
"Through the B.U.D.D.I.E.S Program I learned how strong and courageous international students are living and studying in another country. They taught me how to become more adaptable to college life. It was a great experience!"
-Kristin, USA

The B.U.D.D.I.E.S. Program was created in the summer of 2001 with the purpose of promoting cross-cultural understanding, learning, friendship, and respect. International and U.S. students who live in the Horton International House are paired together on the basis of their common interests for the academic year. U.S. students assist their international friends in their adjustment to a new country, city, and university.
International students share their cultural experiences and help American friends become more knowledgeable about other cultures. |

PROGRAM PARTICIPANTS
Last year's program attracted students from more than 10 different countries, including China, Russia, Sri Lanka, Nigeria, St. Maarten (Netherlands), Mongolia, Korea and Japan. Students majored in different areas, had different interests and came from the different parts of the world, but they did have something in common - desire to learn about others, help their friends, and have fun! |
