Facilities - Most of the information a chair would require regarding facilities is available from the Office of Facilities Management (mail stop 216; phone: (419) 530-1400; FAX: (419) 530-1401; http://finadmin.utoledo.edu/facilities/). This office has several departments that are outlined below. In the event your questions cannot be answered through the following material, please call the Facilities Management Work Center (419/530-1000).
Building floor plans/space inventory - The Department of Facilities Information Systems is responsible for maintaining the University’s building floor plans and space inventory information (mail stop 216; phone: (419) 530-1082; Fax: (419) 530-1401; http://www.facilinfosys.utoledo.edu/ ). They are the official source of campus maps and building names, room numbers, and other space data.
Room signs - The Environmental Graphics Department is the source for certain types of official signage. These include Room Number Signs, Vehicle Decals, Parking/Regulatory Signs, and some Miscellaneous Signs. To request room number signs visit: http://www.facilinfosys.utoledo.edu/RoomNumber.htm. Certain other signs, such as temporary of event signage, can be obtained from Audio Visual Services (ASMS) of the University Libraries. Visit their website at http://avs.utoledo.edu/photographix.htm or call Susan Benedict at 419-530-4404 for more information.
Facilities Planning - The Department of Facilities Planning is responsible for facilities master planning, capital projects planning, project programming, and space allocation at the University. They staff the University's Facilities Planning Council. They are also one of the University's liaisons to the Ohio Board of Regents, reporting on the University's facilities.
Space Requests - To request space in a University building, complete a Space Allocation Request form, attach any relevant supporting material and obtain the endorsement of your dean. It is then submitted to the Department of Facilities Planning and will be considered by Facilities Planning Council (FPC) if the request involves a change in space allocation from one College or Administrative Division to another, or when the request involves a change in the primary function of the space (such as from conference room to office), or when the cost of the renovation is over $25,000, regardless of the fund source or function change. To obtain a Space Allocation Request form visit: http://facilitiesplanning.utoledo.edu/space request.htm
Campus Maps - The Department of Facilities Information Systems is responsible for maintaining the University's campus maps, building floor plans, and space inventory. Maps and directions to each of the Universities campuses can be found by visiting http://www.utoledo.edu/index.asp?id=136. These maps include building names and abbreviations, parking lot designations and other useful information, as well as links for information about the Toledo area.
Long Range Facilities Master Plan - The University’s Strategic Plan, based on its Mission Statement, will guide which, if any, programs grow and therefore what types of facilities are built. This would involve the imperative of addressing the need for increased and improved instructional space. The Long Range Facilities Master Plan will guide the physical development of the campus, but will not independently determine the academic or strategic roadmap for the University. Strategic Planning will drive what buildings are built, how big they are, and what programs they contain. Long Range Facilities Master Planning will drive where those buildings are built and how they look. The Long Range Facilities Master Plan will include a degree of flexibility to allow the University to meet changing markets, and dynamic environmental and economic conditions. Likewise, it will include a degree of flexibility to enable the University to take advantage of partnering and fundraising opportunities. The Long Range Facilities Master Plan is to be completed in the spring of 2004. If you have questions or suggestions concerning the Long Range Facilities Master Plan, contact Dan Klett, Director of Facilities Planning.
