As a Summer Scholar, you'll get a head start on life as a Rocket!

Summer Scholars with Dr. Sharon L. GaberIn the Summer Scholars Program, you will develop strong academic and social foundations to successfully navigate your transition from high school to college. This program helps build skills and connections, giving you distinct advantages in your academic endeavors and leadership development.

The five day early arrival program (August 18-22) includes immersive activities in your field of study, writing and math skills workshops, personal strengths assessments, and strategies to promote health and well-being in college. In the midst of this intense experience, you will make friends that can last a lifetime.

Learning Communities (LC)

Student support doesn't stop at the end of summer. For fall semester, students join a Learning Community (LC), a small group of students who take classes together around a common theme. Some of this year's learning communities include Brothers on the Rise; Molecules, Cells and Biomedicine; and Teach for the Future.

  • Fulfill a UToledo general education requirement.
  • Open to participants living both on- and off-campus.

Eligibility

Group picture of Summer ScholarsTo be eligible, a student must be a direct-from-high-school, first-year student admitted to The University of Toledo in one of the following colleges:

  • College of Arts and Letters
  • College of Health and Human Services
  • College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics
  • Judith Herb College of Education
  • University College
