Federal Title IV Authorization Form
Other Student Account FAQ's
1. All or part of my financial aid is not on my student account; What should I do?
"Memo" aid refers to pending financial aid and additional steps are typically required before aid can "authorize" and proceed as a payment to the student account. Students with state or federal financial aid as part of their "memo" aid can view what additional steps are required for disbursement through their MyUT Portal accounts. Using the Portal's My Toolkit menu, students can go to the My Financial Aid section and choose the Check Eligibility Status link. Next, select the Student Requirements link and choose the appropriate aid year. Any outstanding requirements will be displayed. Only after all requirements have been satisfied can financial aid be applied as a payment to the student account. For additional questions please contact Rocket Solution Central at 419-530-8700.
Note: Financial aid is dependent on enrollment and other components such as academic progress. If financial aid is adjusted for any reason, the applicant’s payments may be adjusted.
2. Can I use excess financial aid to purchase books?
Yes, a student can use excess refundable financial aid that exceeds the fees to purchase books and supplies at the on-campus bookstore up to $800. Students must complete a rocket card transfer form authorizing a set amount to be placed on the rocket card (student id) via the MyUT Portal Toolkit.
Prior to the start of the term, the Treasurer's Office will transfer the requested amount to the rocket card provided sufficient aid is available and a federal title IV Authorization form has been completed authorizing the University. The student can begin to use the funds transferred to the rocket card one week prior to the start of the term. The rocket card is then used as a debit card at the time of purchase. Students can make return purchases on any remaining monies or can request a refund after the term begins at the Rocket Solution Central Office. To check if funds have been transferred to the Rocket Card, simply view the student account at Student Self Service via the MyUT Portal Toolkit. A detail line will show similar to "Rocket Card Transfer.......$800.00".
3. How do I get my refund?
Refunds issued in the student's name are direct deposited to a savings or checking account through an ACH or electronic transaction. Students complete an on-line direct deposit form via the MyUT Portal Toolkit. The student must be an owner of the account. The account can be joint with another person. Funds cannot be deposited into an account the student does not own or have access to. The direct deposit process should be established as soon as possible, but no later than three weeks prior to the start of the term. This is the safest method of receiving a refund. At the present time, Parent PLUS loan and Graduate PLUS loans cannot be direct deposited and are issued in check format and mailed.
Students who have not enrolled in direct deposit will be refunded via the U.S. Postal system. Checks which are lost in the mail, never received, stolen, etc... require the student to initiate a search and stop payment at the Rocket Solution Central Office. Currently, there is a $20 charge for every check needing a search and stop payment placed. The Treasurer's Office strongly encourages students to enroll in direct deposit via the MyUT Portal.
