jacksonBirdel F. Jackson, Ill, was appointed to The University of Toledo Board of Trustees in July 2018.  He serves as a National Trustee and is a member of the Board's Academic and Student Affairs Committee and the Trusteeship and Governance Committee.

Jackson is President of the Jackson-Davis Foundation, awarding scholarships to civil engineering students.  He is a former UT alumni president, received the 2001 Civil Engineer of the Year award, and was a Gold T and Blue T alumni achievement awards recipient. He serves on the UT College of Engineering Industrial Advisory Board and School of Civil Engineering’s Industrial Advisory Board.

Jackson is a Civil Engineering graduate of The University of Toledo.  He earned a Masters in Civil Engineering from Georgia Tech and is an emeritus member of the Civil Engineering Advisory Board and the Academy of Distinguished Engineering Graduates.

He is a registered Professional Engineer in Georgia, Ohio and South Carolina; a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, National Organization of Minority Architects, National Technical Association and an Entrepreneur of the Year by the National Society of Black Engineers.

Mr. Jackson is a Life Member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc., licensed private pilot and president of the Atlanta Chapter of the Black Pilots of America.
