Richard B. McQuade, Jr. was appointed by the Governor as a UT Trustee in 2003. He works as a judge, mediator and arbitrator. He is a former United States District Court Judge and an Ohio general jurisdiction judge.
Judge McQuade presently serves as Chair of the Audit Committee and as a member of the Academic and Student Affairs Committee and the Trustreeship and Governance Committee.
Judge McQuade is a former president of Blue Cross-Blue Shield of Ohio. He was a member of the Blue Cross Board of Directors for more than 20 years.
Judge McQuade is a member of the Board of Trustees of St. John's Jesuit High School, and a former member of the Board of Directors of National City Bank, N.W., the American Automobile Association of Northwest Ohio, and The University of Toledo Law Alumni Association.
He has served as Chairman of the Court Redistricting Committee of the Ohio Supreme Court and the Ohio Legislature and as Chairman of the Ohio Supreme Court Committee to Reform Judicial Canons.
He is a graduate of the School of Financial Public Relations at Northwestern University, Chicago, and attended several business courses at the University of Michigan and Wharton School of Business of the University of Pennsylvania.
Judge McQuade earned two degrees from UT, a B.A. in 1962 and a J.D. in 1965.
