Board of Trustees : John S. Szuch (2015)

John Szuch, Chair of Fifth Third Bank of Northwestern Ohio, was named to The University of Toledo Board of Trustees in 2006.  Mr. Szuch presently serves as Chair of the Finance Committee and as a member of the Academic and Student Affairs Committee and the External Affairs Committee.

He received a bachelor's degree in 1970 and a master's degree in 1975 both in business administration from The University of Toledo.

Szuch was co-founder, chair and CEO of Capital Bank, a $1 billion banking organization established in 1989. Twelve years later, Capital Bank merged into Fifth Third Bancorp with a total transaction value of some $250 million.

Mr. Szuch is a former chair and executive committee member of the UT Foundation. He is a member of the College of Business Administration Advisory Board and in 2006 was honored by the college with its Pacemaker of the Year Award, which recognizes individuals for their outstanding achievements in business and service to the University.

Szuch is also a trustee of the Toledo Lucas County Port Authority, the Toledo Symphony, St. John's Jesuit High School, the Toledo Museum of Art, and the Northwestern Ohio Alternative Energy Business Council.

He is married to Yolanda Szuch.
