    • have freshman student status through the Spring 2008 semester.
    • devote full-time effort on their research during the summer 2008.
    • participate in the weekly Bag Lunch series, summer session IV.

    PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

    STIPEND:  $2,750     SUPPLIES: $250

The University of Toledo’s First Year Summer Research Experience Program (FYSRE) program supports freshmen students for special projects and activities that benefit the student’s educational experience during the 2008 summer months.

The emphasis is on projects that involve students in the research activities of UT faculty. The competition is open to all university students who have freshman status during the Spring 2008 semester. This competitive program provides a stipend for the student recipient and additional funding to the student’s faculty advisor to help defray the cost of materials and supplies in support of the student’s activities.  In general, FYRSE recipients are required to submit a Final Report to the Office of Undergraduate Research; deliver a presentation describing the project during the Summer Research Symposium at the end of the Summer 2007 Session IV; and present their work at a departmental seminar or performance. They are also encouraged to present their work at a regional and/or national conference and if appropriate, submit their work for external publication. If the student is a member of the University Honors Program, they should make a presentation at an Honors Program Brown Bag during the AY2008-2009 academic year.
