    Program Description

    NSF-REU Site in Physics and Astronomy
     Scope: nation-wide
     Student Population: UT and non-UT students

    The NSF-REU Site in Physics and Astronomy supports research involvement by undergraduate students in all areas of research present in the Department of Physics and Astronomy.  This highly competitive, national program is open to all undergraduate students that are US citizens or permanent residents.

    NSF-REU Site at the Lake Erie Center
    Scope: nation-wide
    Student Population: UT and non-UT students

    The NSF-REU Site at the Lake Erie Center supports research involvement by undergraduate students to study environmental issues affecting the Lake Erie watershed.  It is interdisciplinary, involving students majoring in: biology, ecology, environmental engineering, environmental science, geology, and remote sensing.  This highly competitive, national program is open to all undergraduate students that are US citizens or permanent residents.

    OBOR - STARS Program
    Scope:  under-represented members

    The Student Achievement in Research and Scholarship Program (STARS) is an undergraduate program designed to prepare high achieving, underrepresented minority students (African-American, Hispanic, and Native American) for graduate school, and ultimately, to enlarge the pool of underrepresented minority graduate faculty in Ohio to strengthen academic and cultural support systems for underrepresented students.

    Glenn-Stokes Research Internship Program
    Scope: under-represented STEM majors
    Student Population: UT and non-UT students

    The Glenn-Stokes Research Internship Program, named in honor of John Glenn (Ohio Senator and Astronaut) and Louis Stokes (Ohio Congressman) is designed to better prepare students for and to encourage them to pursue careers in science and technology. Students majoring in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) are matched with faculty members at one of the fifteen participating institutions.

    The NASA Undergraduate Student Research Project
    Scope: Nationwide
    Student Population: UT and non-UT students

    The National Aeronautics and Space Administration is seeking undergraduate students from diverse communities across the United States interested in unique hands-on experiences with NASA scientists and engineers. USRP internships are available year-round at all NASA facilities. Selected students receive a stipend and round-trip travel allowance. Students may apply for 15 week spring session, 10-week summer session, or 15-week fall session.
