Technical Studies Sample Curriculum

The College of Business and Innovation's (COBI) interdisciplinary associate's degree program in technical studies (ATS) is useful for students who want to gain technical expertise in more than one discipline.

    • Students explore their interests in a variety of technical areas, achieve specific career goals and have the opportunity to apply their earned credit hours to a bachelor's of applied organizational technology (BAOT) through COBI.
    • Students must have an approved educational plan in order to be eligible for any associate's in technical studies program.

Students are required to earn a minimum of 60 credit hours in the following subject areas with a grade-point average of 2.0 or higher to complete the degree requirements —

    1. English Composition, 6 credit hours
    2. General Education/University CORE requirements, 15 credit hours including
      • Humanities, 
      • Social Science,
      • Natural Science,
      • Multicultural and
      • Math areas, students should be academically prepared to be placed into MATH 1180 or 1200 at a minimum
    3. Technical field #1, 15 credit hours1
    4. Technical field #2, 12 credit hours1
    5. Occupational objective/additional technical competence, 12credit hours1

1Technical fields and occupational objectives and an individualized plan of study must be planned in coordination with an academic adviser in COBI.

— Students may use this associate's degree to go on to the BAOT for the 2+2 degree completion program.
