The Bachelor of Science degree in Health Information Administration is a degree completion program. UT has partnered with community colleges across the state of Ohio to offer this program to their HIT graduates. HIA graduates are eligible to sit for the national certification examination to become Registered Health Information Administrators (RHIA).

With a Bachelor of Science in Health Information Administration, you’ll have a wide array of settings to work in, such as hospitals, medical centers, physician group practices, ambulatory care facilities, long-term care facilities, health care consulting companies, government regulatory positions, insurance companies, and other settings.

As health care expands, opportunities in Health Information Administration are expected to grow. Electronic medical record keeping and other technological advances to aid with coding, compliance and documentation add to the opportunities available.

  • +2 Sample plan of study courses and descriptions for transfer students with an associate's degree in HIT (actual plan of study depends on the transferred courses and semester credit hours)

RHIA Now Accredited by NCCA!

AHIMA is proud to announce that the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) has granted accreditation to AHIMA’s Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) certification program. AHIMA received accreditation by successfully demonstrating the program’s compliance with the NCCA’s Standards for the Accreditation of Certification Programs. This is an important accomplishment that further enhances the value of AHIMA-credentialed professionals in the healthcare industry.

The University of Toledo is regionally accredited by the North Central Association (NCA) and is authorized to offer degrees online.
