Online Diversity Graduate Certificate

Our interconnected world demands a profound understanding of diversity in all its dimensions and expressions. And at UT, we believe the most effective leaders not only appreciate—but celebrate—the range of human experience. With that in mind, the Department of Higher Education is now offering a Graduate Certificate in Diversity online.

The University of Toledo is a 4 year, public, regionally accredited university that has been serving students since 1872. As a student, you will enjoy: direct contact with your Success Coach and advisers, and interactive faculty to help you achieve your goals. UT also has many resources that a large institution offers such as; eTutoring, IT Help Desk, and eLibrary.

The program consists of 12 credit hours taught over three semesters. Classes are lead by Dr. Shanda Gore, Associate Vice President for The Catharine S. Eberly Center for Women and The Minority Business Development Center and President of the Ohio Diversity Officers Collaborative. Courses are designed to expand students’ knowledge and applied understanding of diversity. Topics include personal communication, diversity theory, and the multiple dimensions of diversity.

Why study diversity?

"We know intuitively that diversity matters. It’s also increasingly clear that it makes sense in purely business terms. Our latest research finds that companies in the top quartile for gender or racial and ethnic diversity are more likely to have financial returns above their national industry medians." Hunt, V.; Layton, D.; and Prince, S.

To be considered for admittance, candidates must have a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and a minimum undergraduate GPA of 2.7.
