PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Join the Judith Herb College of Education literacy faculty and reinvigorate your teaching practice through the Ohio Reading Endorsement program! This is the perfect opportunity to connect with other teaching professionals while learning about the latest advances in literacy theory, research and practice.

PROGRAM DETAILS

In addition to required coursework, the State of Ohio mandates that students successfully complete a culminating exam. Until August 31, 2013, that exam was the Praxis II Teaching Reading (204) test. Candidates who have completed that exam on or before August 31, 2013 and earned a score of 179 or higher may apply for their reading endorsement after completing course requirements.

CAREER OUTLOOK

The Ohio Reading Endorsement online program at The University of Toledo allows teachers to meet the qualifications set forth by The State of Ohio, improve their effectiveness in the classroom, and expand their teaching credentials.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Current Ohio teaching license and evidence of having already taken at least 12-hours of literacy-related coursework, including a 3-credit class focused on phonics (9-hours for secondary and career-tech license holders), please see reading endorsement faqs.
