Preschool Special Needs Endorsement
Students seeking an endorsement in Preschool Special Needs (PSNE) must hold a current Ohio teaching license in K-12 Intervention Specialist (mild/moderate or moderate/intensive) or Early Childhood Education (PK-3). If you add this endorsement, you can teach in a school district sponsored preschool special needs classroom or serve as an itinerant preschool teacher that serves young children with disabilities.
The PSNE endorsement is based on the competencies identified by the Ohio Board of Regents/Department of Education. The Preschool Special Needs Endorsement provides teachers with the coursework and field experiences necessary to work effectively with preschool aged children with disabilities in a variety of settings.
Applicants may obtain a master’s degree in special education or early childhood education in conjunction with the endorsement requirements.
The on-line nature of the endorsement provides accessibility to practicing professional special educators who are unable to take traditional, on-campus graduate courses. Many students choose to pair a certificate with a degree program; discuss all your options with your academic adviser.
The University of Toledo is regionally accredited by the North Central Association (NCA) and is authorized to offer degrees online.
