Preamble
Oldest of the UT colleges, the College of Pharmacy is regarded as being productive, of high quality and a comprehensive program. With its over 4,000 alumni, the college is the source of approximately 25% of the pharmacists in the state of Ohio. Thus, alumni are engaged in a myriad of encounters with patients seeking the professional care of a pharmacist. The quality of the program is indicated in the high retention of students, their licensure examination success rate of 90-100%, and the high affinity of the industry for graduates. It is a comprehensive college, offering the Doctor of Pharmacy, a BS in pharmaceutical sciences, MS and PhD degrees, and residency and fellowship training in critical care and infectious diseases.
The college now seeks to plan its path to a higher level of excellence - The Future of Pharmacy. Accordingly, the strategic plan will guide the college for the next five years. It represents numerous person hours and efforts by faculty, staff, students, alumni and input from key practitioner partners. As a living document, it will be tested, monitored and modified as dictated by the quickening pace of pharmacy practice, skill levels required by new medications, research required by mankind and the demand for its graduates. In so doing, it will be responsive to change. The plan also positions the college for leadership in every aspect of academic pharmacy and the profession. A key facet of the plan is the development of regional partnerships with community agencies, Ohio-based and other colleges of pharmacy, patient care and educational institutions in Northeast Ohio to create new opportunities for UT Pharmacy students.
